Hi, I'm Cody Bassindale. The creator of the Haldimand Lake Survey. One day on my birding travels around the county I was looking at the lake off Selkirk Provincial Park and was astonished by the sheer amount of Waterfowl out over the lake there. After seeing this I decided to drive down the road towards Nanticoke to see what kinds of birds were there. It turns out there was a lot there as well. This was not unexpected given the time of year but the sheer number did shock me, well, the number of Horned Grebe was what shocked me more. This drove me to start this program. To see the actual number of birds around and what birds are around at certain times during late fall and into winter.
If you see someone along Lake Erie with a spotting scope looking out into the lake it's more than likely me. If you're interested in what I'm seeing please feel free to ask I'd be more than happy to tell you!
